Our Experiences
Want to savour all that this fantastic area has to offer? The Kangaroo Island Lodge offers the following experiences for all guests traveling to Kangaroo Island. Please contact our friendly reception team for more information and pricing.
Pelican Feeding (free self guided)
In front of the Kangaroo Island Lodge on the foreshore, watch the local squadron of Pelicans being fed some mornings at approx 9.00am (subject to feed availability). You may even get to meet Bump the Pelican, a favourite at the Kangaroo Island Lodge. So famous she even has her own Facebook page! (subject to feed availability and weather conditions).
Wallaby Walk (free self guided)
After a delicious dinner in Reflections Restaurant borrow a torch from reception and take a leisurely walk through our grounds to spot the local Tammar Wallabies. The Tammar Wallaby is a member of the kangaroo family. Traditionally a nocturnal mammal, they can sometimes be spotted during the day.
Breakfast with the Pelicans
Watch the morning Pelican Feeding on the foreshore in front of the Kangaroo Island Lodge after enjoying a fully cooked breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and KI's famous sheep's yoghurt. Why not spend your morning feasting on your breakfast whilst enjoying the tranquility and peace of the calm waters of Eastern Cove. A great time to spot all the birdlife on the waterfront. What an amazing experience!
Sunset Soiree
Enjoy a stunning Kangaroo Island sunset whilst feasting on a platter filled with delicious Kangaroo Island produce such as our succulent American River Oysters, all with a glass of Kangaroo Island wine. With views of the beautiful bay as your backdrop, share your experience with our friendly American River birdlife. A must-do Kangaroo Island experience, one that will be a highlight of your holiday (available October to April).
Fireside Cheese and Cellar
During the colder winter months, why not enjoy a delicious cheese platter and a bottle of local Kangaroo Island wine in front of our warm open fire. Lounge in our leather seats and sample a selection of cheeses served with crackers (available May to September).
Nocturnal Tour
Visit Penneshaw's Little Penguin colony for a unique insight into the lives of these sea birds. On the way to Penneshaw the tour takes in some wildlife spotting including Tammar Wallabies and possums. The experienced guides at the Penneshaw Penguin Centre will take you on foot through penguin territory to see, learn and enjoy the Little Penguins and their families (not available in February).
